Alana + Jack (Mr & Mrs Smith-Ballingal)

I had the privilege of marrying Alana & Jack at the picturesque Friend's Bush in Meeanee, Hawkes Bay over Easter Weekend. Cameron and I bought our first home in Meeanee and lived their for six years before making the move to the country and I didn't know that this gorgeous venue existed. Friend's Bush is the result of Colin James' love affair with nature since 1981, and the perfect place for an intimate ceremony.

Alana and Jack met at a high school debate over a decade ago and share a beautiful daughter, Mila who played a huge part in their day. The love and patience that Jack and Alana share emits in everything they do. You can feel it in their home, how they speak to each other and especially how they radiate that love to Mila. You just can't help but be infected.

Their ceremony was poignant, with a touch of tradition, and highlighted a whole lot of teamwork and especially solidified their commitment to one another. I loved telling Alana and Jack's story and their guests were treated to the tips of marriage, shared by Alana's Great-Grandma Val, who definitely stole the show!

I give you this ring as a reminder that I will love, honour, and cherish you. In all times, in all places, and in all ways, forever.
